THEOSOPHY - Eastland Tales- Part II

The word 'theosophy' is defined as any of a number of philosophies maintaining that a knowledge of God may be achieved through spiritual ecstasy, direct intuition, or special individual relations. That's probably the interesting part about this melodic black metal band from Russia. Everything else is kinda run of the mill which surprises me because I figured a band from Siberia would be colder than this.
THEOSOPHY have been around for close to a decade with a handful of releases to their credit. Eastland Tales- Part II is their fourth full length. Unfortunately this is the first time I've listened to one of their releases. It's obvious this is the follow-up to 2014's Eastland Tales- Part I. Like I mentioned earlier, musically THEOSOPHY's sound is in the melodic vein of black metal but it would be wrong to pigeonhole them so directly.
While the melodies are apparent the band finds ways to weave in atmosphere using keyboards, some traditional metal flows and even some thrashy elements. The downside to this would be the vocals being so one dimensional even for black metal since they're of a hoarse croak variety. A few songs, the faster cuts, have an IMMORTAL influence but that's slight. If this band's into nature than it's during Siberia's warmer months since there's an air of warmth surrounding it. Sorry no harshness of Siberian winters or gulag grimness. Oh well.
