HAVUKRUUNU - Kuu erkylan ylla EP
Naturmacht Productions
So here we have the latest from Finnish black metal act HAVUKRUUNU and it's just a five song EP this time around. Now I've said it before but it bare's repeating. HAVUKRUUNU are a Finnish black metal act that doesn't sound like typical Finnish black metal. Now of course when I say "typical" or better yet "traditional" I mean black metal that is necro, brutally bestial and pushing the whole Satanic thing up to the point of wanting to beat your ass over it. Yes I do love that stuff.
HAVUKRUUNU are just another in a line of bands who over the past five years have come from countries which have given us a certain style of genre BM but totally take their influences from somewhere else. In the past I did mention that they sounded like pagan black metal from the Ukraine mixed with a love for latter period BATHORY. On this EP it's basically where we left off from their 2020 full length Uinuos syomein sota.
Basically it's still mainman Stefan's vision at work here. We're talking part second wave BM with added epic power metal touches. Toss in some more BATHORY love, a touch of folk influenced melodies, a little synth atmosphere and a whole lot of paganism. The only problem with this release is that it's three songs short of being another good full length. But hey at least it still has Heidi Kosenius' artwork.
