KHEMMIS - Desolation review
KHEMMIS - Desolation
20 Buck Spin
This Denver, Colorado act has not been around for long and yet they're in a constant state of flux. This their third album now is another change in direction for KHEMMIS. In fact the only constant this band has is that they've got cool looking album covers and hipsters like em. With that said when first listening to Desolation I thought hey put some vikings on the cover, sing songs about Asgard and hey they could pass.
KHEMMIS are now epic sounding metal with more 80's style and a touch of Scandinavian viking metal flair. Of course it's about as original as a cover band but if they just rehashed what they've done before then this would suck. Plus they still have some touches of doom within. The vocals are cleaner than my ex's bathroom. Plenty of galloping riffs and duel guitar soloing to get you nostalgic. Hell imagine playing PARADISE LOST, IRON MAIDEN and TYR consecutively and there you have it.
