BRUME - Rooster

On paper this band could be a total cliche. They are a three piece (guitar, bass and drums) act that hails from San Francisco. Their bassist/vocalist is a woman and they perform traditional doom in the SABBATH-ian way. The kicker in their favor is that their songs are damm good and their vocalist adds so much feeling to their songs that it's as if she reaches out and touches you while this recording plays.
Rooster is the second release by BRUME. They also have an EP titled Donkey from 2015. I never heard their EP but I'll say this, BRUME's debut full length is a captivating release and one of the best of 2017. Musically the songs (there's six of em) have a slow methodical pace (provided by guitarist/riff-lord Jamie McCathie and drummer Jordan Perkins-Lewis) which adds perfectly to bassist/vocalist Susie McMullin. She has a vocal style that switches from soulful touches, airy melodic-ness to folk-ness. In a lot of ways this reminds me of JEX THOTH, which is a compliment.
