THRONEUM - Oh Death Oh Death Determinate, Preach and Lead Us Astray

Earlier this year I did a write up for SOLIUM which is the side project for THRONEUM's guitarist/vocalist The Great Executor. So I was glad to see this Polish blackened death institution come out with a new full length. Their last one was The Tight Deathrope Act over Rubicon which came out in 2018 on Hells Headbangers Records.
Just for the record THRONEUM have been around for a very long time and have a shitload of releases to show for it. They've put out a handful of full lengths, a few EPs and a bunch of splits. So looking at this one here I have a hard time calling this a full length. You've got three proper songs and three instrumentals. As far as the instrumentals go I think they're just filler. So I'm just going to concentrate on the three proper cuts.
Opener "Alpha: Soulside Space Stream" is a fifteen plus minute romp of atmospheric blackened death. The cut shows how the band has moved away from their old meat and potatoes death metal material and onto something leaning toward an avant-garde long winded approach. Fine but this song would've been better cut in half.
The second cut, "Delta: Self Appointed Grandeur", is somewhat more interesting. This one rolls in at twelve plus minutes and includes some female guest vocals by Pia Luzzi Deckert to add some haunting flair. Musically this is more akin to older THRONEUM with the choking atmospherics. Third cut, "Zeta: archangel lucifer god", is a disjointed, single riff death doom closer with wailing tormented vocals. I almost wanted to join in on the wailing portion. File this one for fans only.
