In all honesty this label for over a decade now has been my go to place for extreme music that would leave a mainstream lame-stream music fan offended and puking. By the way that's a good thing in my not so humble opinion. But in recent times they've released some stuff which any real death metal fan will like. This year it's the full length by HUMAN INFECTION which is killer as fuck. But then they revert back to the fuckin sickness and I'm all smiles, well a sick sinister grin. 

Here we have the debut full length by IMMORTAL FORCE who are a four piece Death Metal act from Canada more specifically Vancouver, British Columbia or Calgary, Alberta. Whatever and you've got an asshole as a PM. But anyways listening to this is like hearing the Canadian cousins of MORTICIAN to a point. How could you not appreciate cuts like "Hospice Carnage", "Midnight Bloodsplatter", "Mass Murder Meat Market", "Lycanthropic Miscreant" and of course "Open-Casket Gangbang". 

Now it ain't all death doom and sado insanity. These Canadians like some grind as in their cover song choices. On here they do their versions of NAPALM DEATH's "Suffer the Children" and "Ruptured in Purulence" by CARCASS. Both of which are decent to say the least. For me the bottom line is that just being old school influenced ain't enough anymore. 

Honestly you've got to make the old school sound exciting again instead of just copying it. These recent years yeah it's been done. This debut by IMMORTAL FORCE is good but I'm thinking their second full length will be better and with out cover songs. Nuff Said.

While listening to this debut full length by Australia's RESIN TOMB I kept thinking of painful circumstances. The three that came to mind were being drawn and quartered, hung by the wrists while some sadistic fuck takes a blow torch to your feet or being hit by a plumber's truck. 

Now in all honesty I really don't know too much about the first two examples. But I do have a friend who is a plumber (by the way it's good to have friends who do work in low places). One day I was looking into the back of his van and he had a whole mess of junk in there including a kitchen sink. So I can imagine being hit by him in his van at fifty miles per hour. Yeah that's gonna hurt.

Which brings us back to RESIN TOMB who are a five piece band who incorporate that dissonant style of death metal (aka: a lot of quiet atmospheric parts) ferocious sludgey sounds and a bit of grind. In other words everything and the fuckin kitchen sink colliding with ya into one full blown unstoppable force. And that's just the musical portion. 

The vocals on here are a combination of full blown hate and angst plus torture out the wazoo. You need that to compete with the bludgeoning force of the music. I can just imagine when this guy was recording the vocals in the studio. The producer would tase him saying "more angst, more pain, Zap Zap!" And of course it works out damm well because the vocals combine death metal growls with the screams of human bondage. 

You take all of that into account and add song structures that have more twists, suspense and gruesome encounters than a Giallo film. By the way I've heard this band twice before on two Transcending Obscurity Records compilations and here finally is a full length. Be that as it may I don't see Cerebral Purgatory (great album title by the way) resonating well with your run of the mill extreme metal fan. I mean hell it took me three spins to really get it. Then again that could be it's greatness.

A few years ago I heard this band's debut full length Medical Renditions of Grinding Decomposition. My first impressions about em came in quick aka: they sound like fuckin CARCASS. Better yet they sounded like the gore / death grind era of CARCASS. Yeah fuck you Heartwork posers!

So here we have this Japanese two piece act's second full length. This is after two years of doing short form releases many of which were splits. Go ahead and be a collector scum's dream. But anyways this new one is just a continuation from their debut. 

Musically yeah the CARCASS homage is still intact but with an added jolt. With this band it's all about the song structures. Sure you've got some damm filthy sounding riffs, barked carnal vocals plus pounding fuckin drums. But then the guitar soloing jumps in for some laser like melody breaks. 

The songs on here are actually long for a gore grind act. Of the seven tracks on here six go past the seven minute mark. Nothing boring or repetitive either in fact there's plenty of room for multiple time changes. There's plenty of head banging melody, head crushing riffs and of course surgically placed soloing. All in all this is amazing.

Personally if an album starts off with a minute's worth of hog squeals I'm the type to turn it off. Hey I like my pork but not singing to me in an album's intro. When the second song commenced things looked better. Especially when that cut included a solo by Bob Vigna from IMMOLATION. Then again that was only a couple of seconds. 

Speaking of hog squeals this band's vocalist, Orca, is not far from the mark. But what you expect from a band doing brutal death and grind. HOLOCAUSTO CANIBAL are a four piece act hailing from Portugal. They've been on a massacre since starting out in the late 1990's. This is their fifth full length and they also have a slew of small formats releases as well.

Musically yeah this is brootal which makes sense since the album title translates into English as ferocious cruelty. On it the band delivers nineteen cuts, most of em short songs. Personally I like their longer songs (aka: the ones lasting more than three minutes). But in the long run all of the material on here is done well as far as the sub-genre demands. Very good.

Chicago's ELBOW DEEP are frequent acquaintances to me and this website. This is the third full length of their's I've had the pleasure of writing about. They have four altogether and a split EP with the MENTORS, more on that later. 

The skinny on ELBOW DEEP has always been that they're a decent sounding death metal act with sick yet funny songs. Which brings us back to THE MENTORS reference. ELBOW DEEP is basically doing what El Duce and Co. were doing decades ago but in a brutal DM style.

Look you have to laugh when you hear songs like "She Sells Sea Shells by the Way She's A Whore" or "Whatever I Got, You're Getting". There's a few more titles that'll have ya laughing out loud. But you should get the idea that your SJW types are gonna despise this. But hey Fuck Them.

Musically like I said this is straight up death metal which sometimes has groove or just trudges along. There's parts of thrash and grind added to the mix. The vocals are varied between standard barks, growls and of course the brootal singing. In the end it's a good follow-up from 2019's Bodily Fluids.

I've said this before and I know it needs repeating. Writing about music on a blog or website does not make you an expert. In fact for me personally doing this blog is always a great learning experience. For example here we have the full output by this band from New Jersey who I never heard of before but damm I'm glad I did because it's good.


SKUZ are a duo consisting of Trevor Pason (guitar & vocals) and Josh Walton (drums & vocals). They originally started out in New Jersey which is from where I was born and raised. But from what I gather they now live in Portland, Oregon. Wow that's a fuckin culture shock. I wonder how long it's going to take them to stop peppering their language with words like Fuck, Fuckin, Motherfucker, Cocksucker, Douchebag, Sonovabitch and Asshole in order to appease the Portland PC crowd. 


But anyways this is a complete discography of what this band has released since starting out in 2014. The thirty one songs here are from their output of demos, split releases (3) and their Endless Grief EP. Why so many songs? Well that's because SKUZ is musically a fuckin death doom and grind act. As far as influences go there's a litany I could mention. But better yet SKUZ could easily stand toe to toe with em. Plus if you do an anti hipster song, in their case it's "Total Hipster Extermination", you're automatically a winner in my book. 


But for the sake of some of you questioning types. SKUZ falls in line with the likes of CIANIDE and MORTICIAN for the most part. Once in a while they're kick it into high gear with some headbanging and slam pit inducing death groove. Strangely enough it always ends in a doom dirge. But then again people don't slam dance like they use to when I was young. All in all this compilation is a MUST HAVE for sick fucks who crave this kinda stuff.

What we have here is a compilation by Canadian filth mongers who worship at the altar of IMPETIGO as well as a few other less then glorious brutal death metal acts. VESICATION started out in 2008 but really hasn't produced much over that time. They've put out a couple of EPs and a full length since 2012. So this is an eight song compilation which is more a sampler than a best of package. 


First off I'm kinda surprised that their cover version of (one of my all time favorite Canadian hardcore bands) the DAYGLO ABORTIONS' "Proud to be Canadian" is not on here. Be that as it may there is a WADGE cover which is not a big surprise since they're a fairly known Canadian grindcore act. I have that deju vu feeling right now. A band puts out a compilation of old material. So maybe they're gearing up for a new full length. I've seen it before. But anyways for a welcome mat into VESICATION as well as a avenue into the more brutal side of Canadian death metal then this is a good place to start.

"No Means Yes, Yes Means Anal", more on that later. Anyways I've got a friend who is far from being a fan of death metal. But to his credit, and the fact that he's originally from Illinois, he is a fan of some of his home state's sicker shit. I'm talking about bands like MACABRE, IMPETIGO and LIVIDITY. In fact it was him who turned me on to LIVIDITY. 


Now in the history of brutal, or if you prefer "brootal",  American death metal there are plenty of stand out albums that over the years have defined the genre as well as influenced denizens of imitators. In my not so humble opinion LIVIDITY's Used, Abused, and Left for Dead full length from 2006 is one of those defining albums. Then again that's if you consider gore, death, porn and grind all rolled into one to be defining. Which I do by the way.


Now in 2009 the band released the follow-up, and their fourth full length overall, To Desecrate and Defile. It was a decent release but you knew ahead of time what you were getting, if the cover art didn't give it away. Now with the exception of a couple of split releases and a live album the band have been very quiet. I kinda figured Dave Kibler and co. retired. I was wrong and glad about it after hearing this.


On Perverseverance you have LIVIDITY pretty much kicking down the door and letting the inhabitants know that THEY'RE BACK & SICK AS EVER. Seriously when you open your release with a crowd chanting "No Means Yes, Yes Means Anal", ya know we're not talking about choir boys here. Nor are we talking about imitators just going for shock value. LIVIDITY were always known to go in big as well as deep without any reservations about offending someone. 


Now for fans you should know what you're getting here but for the un-initiated? Bludgeoning brutal death metal with plenty of movie samplings, intense jackhammer riffing, guttural vocals, pounding rhythms either in the slow dirge style or just frantic death grind insanity. After nine years quiet LIVIDITY are still one of the best.

The fine people at Horror Pain Gore Death Productions in Hostile City (aka: Philadelphia, PA) have come up with their 2017 Year in Review compilation. Oh yeah and it's FREE.

What we have here is 39 tracks, an hour and fifty six minutes of pure fuckin extreme music. This thing has it all, death metal, grind, hardcore, punk and some insanity set to music. This is not like those freebie CDs that Century Media use to include in their releases (which always SUCKED!). Nor is this some punk fanzine comp where you have one or two big name bands and the rest are no name LOSERS! In fact I can vouch for plenty of these bands because their releases were reviewed in SFM666 this year. So here you go.
