You know that feeling you get when you're at the dentist and the guy or gal is drilling deep into one of your cavities while they're blasting old SABBATH in the background. Yeah that's what this reminds me of except this has a blast furnace for vocals instead of Ozzy. Dead Rituals is the second full length by this Oakland, CA, based sludge act. The skinny on them is that they're old school sludge ritualists. Well sound-wise it leans more towards death doom.
It's there's a ritual at hand it's the band's use of heaping low end distortion, straight up heavy riffs and long monotonous cuts. This release has four of em. All of which are good and stick with the formula which fans enjoy. Punish me with your demonic sounding crushing noise because I'm drunk, wearing an EYEHATEGOD shirt and I'm gonna slam that hipster looking motherfucker into a wall. I bet that happens a lot at their shows. I heard NEUROSIS likes em also. Well they should.
