DESCENT – Order Of Chaos review

DESCENT – Order Of Chaos

Redefining Darkness Records

Here we have the sophomore album by Australia's DESCENT. A few years back their debut came out on Redefining Darkness Records as well. Some things have changed since 2018 for this death metal act. For starters their debut, Towers of Grandiosity, was rooted in the old school of the genre. That was a decent release but you knew something was bubbling under the surface.

And so here are the results once the lid was taken off of this Aussie cauldron. Order Of Chaos is an aptly titled release. This five piece act have ditched some of the old ways. They're still full of crunching riffs via old school DM. But there's a touch of hardcore plus blackend death metal. The formula is far from being new but it works.

I guess the best thing about this album is how consistent the band is raging at full force. Except for taking a slight blackened atmospheric break mid way through. DESCENT really don't let up at all with the punishing riffs. The vocals come off as venomous assaults.

Yeah Order Of Chaos is an aptly titled album and DESCENT are in charge.
