MISTY GREY - Chapter II review

MISTY GREY - Chapter II

Topillo Records

I'm guessing a simple write-up for this band would be SABBATH-ian influenced doom with a bluesy female vocalist and that could suffice. I mean there are quite a few acts similar to this. Ever heard of CASTLE, BLOOD CEREMONY or CAUCHEMAR to name just a few? Yeah well one more won't hurt. What makes this Spanish band different is that musically they're not taking that occult trip, horror inspired stoner rock approach. I find that to be a breath of fresh doom.

This is the band's second full length since starting out back in 2011. It also features their second female vocalist which makes me curious to hear their former one. But anyways I'm guessing where the album title resonates from. The second thing which makes MISTY GREY different is the subject matter in their songs. They're all titled and based on the movies of Alfred Hitchcock. I'm a fan of his movies as well.

In the end I can say this band is as infectious as SABBATH once was. And for years I've said after DIO passed HEAVEN AND HELL could've got a female singer and continued on. It would've been better than that last album Iommi and Butler did with Ozzy. This is the next best thing.
