SYMMETRIC ORGAN - States of Decay review

SYMMETRIC ORGAN - States of Decay

Self Released

Basic death metal with grind influences and hailing from Germany. SYMMETRIC ORGAN doesn't really stand out amongst their present day peers or predecessors for that matter. This would be considered average back in the 90s. Now that's not to say "oh they're old school" because OSDM is from 1988 to 1991. This band's sound and style are way passed that era.

I won't call this a complete failure either. SYMMETRIC ORGAN do have a few good moments. "Palace Revolution" is decent enough track with classic guttural vocals, jack hammering drums and a decent solo ripped from SUFFOCATION. I thought "We Are The End" was gonna be an instrumental because of the long intro but then the gut busting vocals kicked in. "Blessed Be The Blind" is also a well done cut but it's the last one on this ten song full length.

Their promo info suggests that one of a few influences SYMMETRIC ORGAN has is brutal (as in BROOTAL) US death metal. Ah maybe a bit but I wouldn't go all hyperbole about it. No this is second tier late 90's DM. I've got a couple dozen CDs by bands just like this from that era and ya know what? I hardly ever pull one out to reminisce.
